Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat Movie Review: Anurag Kashyap is bringing revolution with ‘Mohabbat’, you have to understand

The king of romance, Shahrukh Khan is doing an action film and director Anurag Kashyap, who made films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Raman Raghav’, has now come up with a romantic film, that too ‘Zen-G’… No, you did not hear wrong, but The beginning of 2023 has happened something similar in Bollywood. Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘All Most Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat’ (Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat) has been released in cinema halls today. This film is not the first love story of Anurag Pahli. Anurag has made many films like ‘Dev D’, Mukkabaaz, ‘Manmarziyaan’ which are love-stories only, just these love stories are not fixed love stories with set pattern of Bollywood. Let’s tell whether this story is able to run the light love of love in the midst of this storm of ‘Pathan’ or not.

what does the story say
Talking about the story of the film, there are two love stories in it, which are going on in two different parts of the world. Dalhousie’s Ek Love Story, starring Amrita and Yakub. The second story is of London in which Harmeet and Ayesha. Dalhousie’s Amrita is fond of music and has to attend DJ Mohabbat’s concert. Now Yakub promises to take her to this concert. On the other hand, Harmeet himself is a DJ in London and wants to revolutionize the music world. But Ayesha collides with him and there is a revolution of love instead of music. Now what are these two stories connected, do these stories get happy ending… for all this you have to go to theatres.

This film is not a daily love story
As I already told that Anurag Kashyap’s romance is not that much livelihood, so in this story also you will not find only loving couple and their enemy era. Rather, you will get a lot of master class of love in this film, who will take the class, DJ Mohabbat i.e. Vicky Kaushal. This film is going to be watched with satisfaction, because you have to have some patience to understand the words of DJ Mohabbat and its philosophy. But the question is who will bring so much satisfaction.

Connection is a bit tricky
I found the first half of the story a bit slow and there is some difficulty in connecting in the beginning. Along with this, there are two love-stories, in which the love story going on in Himachal is innocent and easy to connect. But the love story going on in London is not straightforward nor does it connect that quickly. Also, in this film, two different stories are being shown simultaneously. Sometimes the scene of this story and the next moment the scene of another story. Earlier, the same has happened in films like ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’, when the stories of two different parts have been shown together on the screen. But this type of story often confuses the audience on the screen. Because as soon as you connect with one part, the other part starts telling you something. This challenge is also in this story.

This film is not a masala love-story, but the topic of ‘love jihad’, family’s nose in the circle of love, has been raised in a very subtle way. Another funny thing is that on social media, the makers of reels and ‘content creators’ are often made fun of that ‘they are making any content’, in this film this medium was shown as such a platform for the youth. Has gone, where he keeps everything he says openly. The biggest strength of the film is its performance and its perfectly composed music in the story. Amit Trivedi’s songs are set in the story and are fun. While coming out of the film, if you also sing this song ‘Mohabbat se hi to kranti aayegi…’ then it means the film has become successful.

Talking about acting, Alaya F has once again impressed a lot with her acting. During the promotion of the film, Anurag was praising him a lot and after watching the film, you will understand why he did so. Karan Mehta is debuting with this film. Karan is fresh, new and looks good on screen. He has impressed in the first performance. This film may be of Anurag, but in this you will get a little glimpse of everyone from Imtiaz Ali to Gulzar. Vicky Kaushal even mentions the famous line of Gulzar sahib, ‘Humne dekhi hai uno aankhon ka mehtki khushboo, don’t blame him for relationship with your hand, just feel it from your soul, let love be love’ Don’t name…’

It is clear that if you are just watching what is coming on the screen, then you will get bored within a few minutes. But if you understand Anurag Kashyap’s cinema and can catch the emotion behind the dialogues coming on the screen, then the story will keep you hooked till the end. Means ‘love will bring revolution, but you have to understand this revolution first’. This film does not fit in the book of Bollywood romance, but it definitely shows the new definition of new generation romance, which only Anurag Kashyap can write. 3 stars from my side to this movie.
