According to the draft of the new rules, online gaming companies will be brought under the new IT Act (Information Technology Rules). These rules were issued in the year 2021 for social media companies.

Opinion sought on draft rules till January 17
The ministry has sought people’s opinion on the draft of these rules related to the regulation of online gaming till January 17, after which the new rules are expected to be ready by the beginning of February.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has made it necessary for online gaming companies to comply with the laws applicable in India in the draft rules. Along with this, it has been said that all the laws related to gambling or betting will apply to these companies.

Will not be able to bet on sports results
Regarding these draft rules, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that gaming companies will not be allowed to place bets on the results of any game. He said, ‘As per the principles laid down under the rules, betting on the outcome of the game will be prohibited.’

In the information issued by the Ministry of MIETY, it has been told, ‘The purpose of these new rules is to ensure the growth of online gaming activities as well as to conduct them in a responsible manner.’

Users will have to give information about all transactions
In the draft of the new rules, some additional provisions related to due diligence have been made for gaming companies. These include displaying the registration symbol for all online games registered with a self-regulatory body and informing participants of online games about deposit withdrawals or refunds, distribution of winnings, and fees and other charges. is included.

According to the information issued by the ministry, ‘The self-regulatory body will have to be registered with the ministry. This body will register the intermediate (middleman) companies offering online games on the basis of their eligibility. This regulatory body will also deal with the complaints coming through the complaint redressal system.
