Ingredients for Amritsari Dal Makhani
Urad Dal – 1 cup
Onion – 2
Tomato – 2-3
Fresh cream – 1/2 cup
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
Green chili – 2
Green coriander – 2 tbsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Amchur powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Ginger chopped – 1 tsp
Desi Ghee – 1 tbsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
Salt – as per taste
How to make Amritsari Dal Makhani
To make Amritsari Dal Makhani, first clean the urad dal. After that wash it with water and keep it soaked for overnight. After this, filter the lentils and remove all the water. Now finely chop the onion, tomato and green chillies. After this, add 1 teaspoon desi ghee soaked urad dal, finely chopped onion, pieces of ginger, 3 cups water and salt as per taste in pressure cooker. Now cover the cooker and let it cook on medium flame for 15-20 minutes. Then turn off the gas.
Now let the pressure of the cooker release automatically. After this, remove the lid of the cooker and add fresh cream to the dal and mix it with the help of a ladle. After this, once again turn on the gas and let the dal cook for another 10 minutes. After this, put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame. After the oil is hot, add a little onion, ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies and fry it. Fry the onion till it becomes soft and its color becomes light brown. After this add chopped tomatoes and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.

When the onion-tomato masala starts leaving oil, then add red chili powder, turmeric, mango powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt as per taste and mix it all well. After this fry this masala for 2-3 minutes more. Add lentils to it and let it cook for another 5-7 minutes. Delicious Amritsari Dal Makhani is ready. Garnish it with cream and butter and serve it with roti, paratha or rice.
