Donald Trump is famously thin-skinned about any topic, but as “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert pointed out Wednesday, there’s one topic he’s particularly poignant about.
Colbert said during his opening monologue, “The one thing he hates most is that people hear he’s not as rich as he claims he is.”
This week, the public got a taste of exactly that when New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil suit accusing Trump and his family of “shocking” fraud. James claimed that the former president had dramatically increased the values of his property, particularly his Mar-a-Lago home.
Trump claimed it was worth $739 million while James said the actual value was just one-tenth of that number.
“Well, of course it’s worth less now,” Colbert cracked. “The FBI took away all the most salable documents.”
