Yes, the Chhelo show has entered the Oscars 2023, beating Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files and SS Rajamouli’s RRR.
Now an announcement has been made in this regard by the Government of India, in which it has been told that the Gujarati film ‘Chhelo Show’ has been nominated by India for the Oscar Awards 2023 this year. This Gujarati film is directed by Pan Nalin, starring Bhavesh Shrimali, Bhavin Rabri, Richa Meena, Paresh Mehta and Dipen Rawal in lead roles. The Chhelo show was screened for the first time at the Tribeca Film Festival. After which it was shown in many award functions.
FFI general secretary Suparna Sen told ‘Bhasha’, “‘Chello Show’ will be officially sent by India for the Oscar Awards 2023.” The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and produced by Roy Kapur Films, Jugaad Motion Pictures, Monsoon Films, Chhelo Show LLP and Mark Dwell.
The film stars Bhavin Rabri, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Rawal and Paresh Mehta. It had its world premiere as the inaugural film at the Tribeca Film Festival in June last year. The film is inspired by Nalin’s own memories, who fell in love with films as a child in the rural areas of Gujarat. It has won several awards during its premiere at film festivals. The film also won the ‘Golden Spike’ award at the 66th ‘Valladolid Film Festival’ in Spain.
