Sabudana Khichdi Recipe: Shardiya Navratri is a special time to worship Goddess Durga. This is the reason why the devotees of Mata keep fast during the nine days of Navratri. Sabudana Khichdi is very much liked as a fruit food during the fast. Fiber-rich Sabudana Khichdi is also wonderful in taste and does not feel hungry for a long time after eating it. In most of the homes, Sabudana Khichdi is made as a fruit food, because it is not only tasty, but it is also easy to make.
During Navratri, many people keep fast on the first and last day as well. If you too are going to fast during Navratri, then Sabudana Khichdi can be a great option for fruit diet. It also does not take much time to make and it is ready in minutes.

Ingredients for making Sabudana Khichdi
Sabudana – 1 bowl
Groundnut seeds – 1/2 bowl
Potato – 1
Cumin – 1 tsp
Green coriander chopped – 1 tbsp
Lemon – 1
Curry leaves – 7-8
Green chilies chopped – 2
Ghee/oil – 1 tbsp
Rock salt – as per taste
How to make Sabudana Khichdi
Delicious Sabudana Khichdi can be made as a fruit food during the nine days of Shardiya Navratri. To make this, first wash the sago and soak them in water for 2-3 hours. Due to which the sabudana becomes soft and swells well. During this, put peanuts in a pan and dry roast them. After this, remove the peel after mashing the peanuts and crush them coarsely.
Now put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, add cumin seeds and crackle it. After this add curry leaves, green chilies and fry. Now add chopped potatoes and fry it well. It will take 2-3 minutes to roast the potatoes. When the potatoes become soft, add soaked sabudana to it and mix it with a ladle. After this, cover the pan and let the sabudana cook for 4-5 minutes. During this, keep stirring the sago in between, so that it does not stick to the pan.

Now add coarsely ground peanuts, green coriander leaves and rock salt as per taste and mix it well with the help of a ladle. After this squeeze lemon juice and let the khichdi cook for 2-3 minutes more. After that turn off the gas. Tasty sabudana khichdi is ready. Garnish it with green coriander leaves and serve it with curd.
