New Delhi. Kerala wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has given a big statement on his batting. Samson has said that over the years he has prepared himself in such a way that no one can give him the title of a player playing in any one role. Samson could not make it to the T20 World Cup squad. However, he understands that with Indian cricket getting better day by day, it is becoming more challenging than ever to be among the ‘Elite’ 15 players of the national team.
Sanju Samson said, “I have worked on various roles over the years. I can easily bat anywhere in the batting order.” Samson believes that a player must be flexible to be successful. He said, “You should not keep yourself in one place. You can’t tell people, I am an opener or a finisher. Playing different roles in the last three-four years has added a new dimension to my game.
This 27-year-old player has played seven ODIs and 16 T20 Internationals so far. He said finding a spot in the Indian team is challenging and there is a lot of competition for that too.
Samson said in response to a question, “It has become really challenging. Finding a spot in the Indian team is really challenging. There is a lot of competition among the players in the team. When these things happen, it’s important to focus on yourself.
He also said, “I am happy with the way I am performing. I want to improve.” Samson will lead India A in three List A matches against New Zealand A from Thursday.
