Karachi. Pakistan’s chief selector Mohammad Wasim has given a befitting reply to critics who questioned the selection of the national team for next month’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. He cited the example of how Pakistan did well in some important conflicts against India in the last ten months.
Pakistan announced their 15-man squad on Thursday, 15 September and were heavily criticized for not addressing middle order problems. Its hallmark was seen thrice including the final in the Asia Cup 2022. Even the Green Brigade found themselves in trouble during the Super 4 clash against Afghanistan while chasing a target of 130 runs.
Talking to the press, Wasim said, ‘India is a billion dollar team, but we showed in the Asia Cup last year as well as this year that this team is capable of winning and I am sure they will make the fans happy in the World Cup. Will keep giving the moment to do it. He further said, ‘I think you also need to focus on the positive things that we have played the semi-final of the last T20 World Cup and the final of the Asia Cup. So it would not be fair to throw out the team completely on the basis of poor performance.
Shan Masood in Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup
Pakistan on Thursday included Shan Masood in the 15-man squad selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup, while veteran top-order batsman Fakhar Zaman will be out of the main team due to a knee injury. Masood performed brilliantly in the red and white ball formats while captaining Derbyshire in the ‘Vitality Blast Tournament’ in England. Zaman is not in the main team due to a knee injury, but has been selected as a reserve player for the World Cup.
