Bhuvneshwar Kumar has a vast experience of 77 T20 Internationals.
In the T20 World Cup, he will start with the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah.
There is still an edge in his bowling with the new ball, but he becomes blunt till the end.
New Delhi: India’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar played his debut T20 match against Pakistan on 25 December 2012. It has been almost 10 years since then and Bhuvneshwar still remains an important part of Team India’s bowling attack. Bhuvi still does the same magic with the new ball, but the Meerut pacer cannot be trusted in the death overs (17th and 19th overs) in the shortest format of cricket. Because in the match against Pakistan, then Sri Lanka and now Australia in the Asia Cup, Bhuvneshwar lost more runs in the 19th over due to which the matches won by Team India slipped. After the loss to Australia, Bhuvi started trending on social media and there was a flood of memes.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has vast experience of 21 Tests, 121 ODIs and 77 T20 Internationals. The thinking of the team management regarding Bhuvi is clear. They are not fed in Test matches, but in the short ball format. He is an important member in terms of World T20. Will start with the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah. Will take out wickets. During the powerplay in T20 International, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls with a superb economy of 5.66, but as the ball gets old, Bhuvi’s edge also starts getting blunt. And the economy rate of 5.66 becomes 9.26 in death overs. That means in the death overs, on an average, 9.26 runs start being wasted every over.
Because of this, batsmen become easy prey
Bhuvneshwar Kumar relies on off-side wide line yorkers in the slog overs, but his moves in the Asia Cup were ineffectual in troubling the batsmen. He had a player with a little more speed like Arshdeep, but if he had another variation bowler like Harshal Patel, he might not have become such an easy prey for the batsmen. In the short ball format, the 19th over is better than the 20th. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done this work for India many times. A total of 129 balls have been bowled. Jasprit Bumrah (48 balls, 7.87 economy, 3 wickets) comes at number two and then Harshal (36 balls, 8.5 economy, 2 wickets).
The series that started with the Asia Cup did not stop
The 19th over is turning into a scary dream for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. This series started from Asia Cup-2022 and continues till now. Team India has lost the first T20I match played with Australia after the defeat from Pakistan and then Sri Lanka. While bowling for Team India in these three overs, the 19th over was very heavy and it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who did it. In all three matches, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the 19th over for India and was badly beaten, after which it became very difficult for Team India to return to the match.
Against Australia, the bowlers drowned Team India’s loot.
The bowling unit proved to be the villain in this match for Team India, which could not even save 208 runs. Team India’s strike bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave 52 runs in 4 overs and did not get any wicket. The same was the case with Yuzvendra Chahal, who looted 42 runs in just 3.2 overs. Whereas Harshal Patel, who was returning to the team after a long time, gave 49 runs in 4 overs. Here only Akshar Patel was such, who saved some shame and gave only 17 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets.
19th over from Bhuvneshwar: 1(wide), 1, 1 (extras) 1, 4, 4, 4
When the robbery drowned against Pakistan
Pakistan needed 26 runs in the last two overs against Team India, here Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the 19th over. But he looted 19 runs in this over, after which Pakistan’s victory was almost certain. Later Arshdeep Singh did the 20th over, in which he was aiming to save 7 runs in the last over, he tried, but he did not succeed.
That over from Bhuvneshwar: 1 (Wide), 1, 6, 1 (Wide), 1, 4, 1, 4
Same thing happened against Sri Lanka
Something similar happened against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, when Sri Lanka needed 21 runs to win in the last two overs. Here too Rohit Sharma gave the 19th over to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in which he gave 14 runs. Here Bhuvneshwar also gave extra runs, after that Arshdeep Singh threw the 20th over and here also he could not save 7 runs.
