But former DHS chief of staff Miles Teller said Trump, whose cornerstone of his 2016 campaign was to build a border wall, once took the idea of taking migrants north to the next level.
Taylor said Trump instructed officials in early 2019 to dump immigrants in Democratic cities and states. However, the president was “much more specific”.
“He wanted us to identify the killers, the rapists and the perpetrators and, in particular, make sure we didn’t imprison them, and we kept them in those cities,” Taylor said on CNN. “It doesn’t require a lawyer or genius to recognize that doing so would probably be illegal.”
To quell fears over immigration in his race for president, Trump called Mexican immigrants “rapists” and criminals.
