This move will benefit creators who are not eligible for the YouTube Partner Program and who earn money through tips, subscriptions and sales.
According to The Verge, the decision is aimed at providing creators with a better monetization option than Chinese rival Tiktok and bringing more creators back to shorts. Until now, YouTube used to monetize short video creators funds, shopping and tips.
