Ingredients for Chana Dal Fry
Chana dal – 1 cup
Onion finely chopped – 1/2 cup
Tomato chopped – 1 cup
Ginger chopped – 1 tsp
Garlic chopped – 1 tsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Amchur – 1/2 tsp
Kasuri methi – 1 tsp
Green coriander – 2 tbsp
Green chili – 2-3
Oil – 2-3 tbsp
Salt – as per taste
How to make Chana Dal Fry
To make Chana Dal Fry, first soak the Chana Dal in hot water and soak it for at least an hour. After this, with the help of a sieve, remove all the water from the lentils. Now put soaked chana dal, turmeric powder and a little salt in a pressure cooker and cook till 4-5 whistles come. After this, turn off the gas and let the pressure of the cooker release automatically. After the pressure of the cooker is released, take out the dal in a big vessel and beat it with the help of a churn and keep it aside.
Now take a nonstick pan, add oil to it and keep it to heat on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, add cumin, finely chopped garlic, ginger, green chili and asafoetida and fry for some time. After this, add finely chopped onion and cook till the color of the onion becomes golden brown. It may take 2-3 minutes for the onions to become soft.

After this, add finely chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder, mango powder, garam masala and a little water to the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes. After this, add beaten lentils, kasoori fenugreek and salt as per taste and mix well. Now let the dal cook for another 2-3 minutes. After this add green coriander leaves and mix it. Your delicious Chana Dal Fry is ready. It can be served with roti, paratha or rice.
