Potato – 3 big
Ginger paste – 1 tsp
Garlic paste – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – half tsp
Turmeric powder – half tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tbsp
Coriander powder – half tsp
Amchur powder – as per taste
Garam Masala – 1 tbsp
salt – as per taste
Asafoetida – a pinch
Coriander leaves – for garnish
oil – as required

How to make Potato Tomato Jhol
Boil the potato and peel it. Take care not to boil the potatoes too much. You can also cut it into pieces or mash it. Cut the tomatoes too. Peel the ginger, garlic and make a paste by adding it to the tomatoes in a mixer. Now put a pan on the gas and pour oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add whole cumin seeds to it. If you like spicy food then you can also add whole red or green chilies.
Now add tomato paste to it and stir well. Add all the spices like coriander, turmeric, red chili, garam masala powder. Fry them on low flame for 5 minutes. When oil starts leaving the pan, add potatoes to it. Now add asafoetida powder, amchur powder to it. For the gravy, add water to it in a similar fashion. Cook covered for 5 minutes. Take it out in a bowl. Garnish it on top by cutting coriander leaves in it. Enjoy hot food with rice, poori, roti.
