New Delhi. The first match of the ongoing two-match T20 series between South Africa and Ireland was played in Bristol on Wednesday. In this match, the African team got a thrilling victory by 21 runs. In fact, in this match, the African team, winning the toss and batting first, had set a target of 212 runs in front of Ireland for the loss of five wickets in the allotted overs. While chasing this target, the opposition team could score only 190 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted overs.
During the match, Irish wicket-keeper batsman Lorcan Tucker tried his best to get his team to victory. However, he failed to get victory. Last yesterday, Tucker, batting at the third order for his team, played an explosive half-century of 78 runs in just 38 balls. During this, his bat hit seven fours and five high-rise sixes. Tucker had a strike rate of 205.26 during the match.
In this match for the African team, Keshav Maharaj, Wayne Parnell and Tabrez Shamsi got two successes respectively. Apart from these players, Lungi Engidi and Dwayne Pretorius took one wicket each respectively.
Earlier, opener Reeza Hendrix was instrumental in taking the African team to a big target. Opening the innings for the team, he played a half-century of 74 runs in 53 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six. Apart from Hendrix, Aiden Markram contributed 56 runs in 27 balls for the team.
Gareth Delany was the most successful bowler for the Irish team in the first T20 match. Bowling three overs for the team, he got the maximum two successes by spending 31 runs. In addition to Delaney, Andy McBrine and Josh Little achieved one success each for the team.
