Team India is doing many experiments regarding captaincy.
Many players have been entrusted with the responsibility of captaincy and vice-captain.
Both KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya are ahead in the vice-captain race.
New Delhi. Due to KL Rahul’s fitness, he may have to lose the vice-captaincy in at least one format. Rahul was handed the vice-captaincy in early 2022 but has missed several series in 2021-22. He is also not part of the ongoing five-match T20 series against West Indies. Due to his fitness, he can be seen losing the vice-captaincy to Hardik Pandya.
According to a report in InsideSports, when the BCCI announces the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, Pandya will be made the vice-captain. A senior BCCI official told InsideSports, “Hardik is a world class player and it is great to have him back in full fitness. Whether he will be made the vice-captain or not is up to the selectors, but he is already a leader in the team. As an all-rounder, he understands both the situations. He has excellent leadership skills and we have seen that in the IPL. He will definitely do well.”
Hardik Pandya’s success in IPL
Hardik Pandya joined Team India’s leadership group for the first time after his success in IPL 2022. Pandya, named as the captain of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, led the debuting team to the title victory. In the series against South Africa, he helped Rishabh Pant after Rahul’s exit.

A clear picture will emerge when the selectors announce the squad for the Asia Cup 2022. Rahul is also ready to make a comeback in the Asia Cup. The BCCI is now doing many experiments regarding the team and captaincy. In this case any decision can be taken.
In ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul have taken over the captaincy along with Rohit Sharma. Dhawan recently led India in the three-match ODI series against West Indies and will now lead the team against Zimbabwe.
