Basseterre (St Kitts). Indian captain Rohit Sharma has said that he will continue to support the young bowlers and also give them a chance to showcase their skills at crucial moments of the match. Rohit’s remarks came after the decision to give the last over to young Avesh Khan during the second T20 International against West Indies (IND vs WI 2nd T20I). In this low-scoring match, India had to defend 10 runs in the last over, but instead of experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rohit gave the ball to Avesh Khan, whose first ball was a no-ball after hitting sixes and fours in the next two balls.

We know what Bhuvneshwar can do but if you don’t give a chance to Avesh or Arshdeep, they won’t know what it means to bowl in the death overs for India.

He said, ‘These players IPL has played this role. It’s only a matter of one match. They don’t need to panic. There is a need to support them and give them a chance. Rohit also said that the Indian batsmen may not have done well on the wicket favorable for batting but they hope that they will soon return to their old form.
The Indian captain said, ‘We did not score too many runs. We didn’t bat well. The pitch was good for batting but we didn’t do well but it happens. I have been saying in the past that when you try something new, it is not always successful. We will look into our mistakes and try to rectify them.
West Indies fast bowler Obed McCoy took 6 for 17 as the Indian team was bowled out for 138 runs. Rohit praised his bowlers for not allowing West Indies to reach the target easily. The Indian captain said, ‘I am proud of the team. It’s not easy when you come down to defend such a small target. This target can be achieved in 13-14 overs but we took it till the last over. Taking wickets was important. We had made the strategy accordingly and the bowlers also implemented it.

Rohit said, ‘I am happy with the performance of the bowlers but there are some things in the batting which need to be taken care of. I am repeating again that we will continue to bat like this because we want to achieve something. There is no need to panic if a result is not favorable. We are not going to change things after a defeat. West Indies scored 141 runs for 5 wickets to level the five-match series 1-1.
