Australia beat Barbados in CWG 2022 women’s cricket match

New Delhi. The Australian women’s cricket team easily reached the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games. Australia defeated Barbados by 9 wickets in 71 balls in their second group match. Batting first in this match, Barbados team could only score 64 runs in 20 overs. In response, the Australian team won the match by scoring 68 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 8.1 overs. Leg spinner Alana King was the hero of Australia’s victory. He took 4 wickets in the match. However, due to a mistake by captain Meg Lanning, she missed out on taking a hat-trick in the match. The Australian captain is also very disappointed about this.
While batting first, the Barbados team had lost 6 wickets within 53 runs in 14 overs. But, in the next over, the difficulty of Barbados increased further. Leg spinner Alana Kings showed the way to the pavilion to two Barbados batsmen on the third and fourth balls of his over. Alana was on the threshold of taking a hat-trick on the fifth ball. Kiela Eliot was on strike. Kiela played a shot in the air on the ball of Elana. The ball went straight to the Australian captain Lanning. But, she dropped a simple catch and thus Alana missed out on taking a hat-trick. Had Lanning caught the catch, Alana would have become the second Australian woman cricketer to take a hat-trick in T20.

Lanning also looked disheartened after dropping the catch. She said in a post match interview, I would have nightmares, after dropping the catch, I wanted to dig the pit and jump into it as fast as possible. I tried my best, but missed the catch. I am not happy with this. I am disappointed for Alana. She was bowling very well but I let her down. But this is the game of cricket.
Lanning smashed 36 runs
Even though the Australian captain went to the villain for his bowler. But, when it came to batting, he took all the effort out of it. Meg Lanning scored 36 runs in just 21 balls to give Australia a 9-wicket win.
