New Delhi. The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games is being organized in Birmingham. Women’s cricket has been made a part of these sports for the first time. Harmanpreet Kaur is leading the Indian women’s team. The team progressed towards the semi-finals on Sunday after registering a resounding victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. On the other hand, the Pakistani women’s team was eliminated from the knockout stage.
Commonwealth Games Now the next match of the Indian women’s team is to be with Barbados. The Barbados team, playing under the captaincy of Windies star Healy Mathews, lost to Australia on Sunday. Now the match between India and Barbados has become like a knockout. Both the teams will face each other in their final league match on 3 August. That is, now the team which will win this match will confirm its place in the semi-finals.
The Australian team has reached the semi-finals. He has won both his consecutive group matches so far. India, Australia, Pakistan and Barbados are part of the A-Group. Talking about the group table, Australian team is on top with 4 points from 2 matches. India is at number 2. He was defeated by Australia in the first match but in the second match he defeated Pakistan.
Barbados also has 2 points but India’s net run rate is good. Pakistan is in the last place, whose account of victory has not even opened yet. Barbados defeated the Pakistani women’s team in their first match. If the Indian team also wants to make it to the semi-finals, then it will have to win against Barbados at any cost. Pakistan’s team is out of the race for the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Indian women’s cricket team made a great comeback in the Commonwealth Games. The team defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 8 wickets in their second match. Opener batsman Smriti Mandhana remained unbeaten on 63 off 42 balls. The match was reduced to 18-18 overs due to rain. Pakistan team could score only 99 runs. Indian team achieved the target in 11.4 overs by losing 2 wickets. The Indian team was defeated by Australia by 3 wickets in the first match.
