New Delhi. Microsoft has launched Outlook app for budget Android smartphones. Dubbed as Microsoft Outlook Lite, the app is just 5MB and can be optimized to run on all Android smartphones. It can also be used in phones with 1 GB RAM.
Microsoft says that its newly launched Outlook Lite app is designed to use less battery and less storage space without compromising on features. The company further said that this app gives fast performance for any network and any device. At present, this app will be available in select countries only.
The app will also work on smartphones with 1GB RAM
In addition to using less battery and storage space, the Microsoft Outlook Lite app has been designed to work with all networks including 2G and 3G networks worldwide. It also works on smartphones with only 1GB RAM. This budget Ideal for smartphones and phones under Rs 5,000, which usually come with limited storage space.

The company also confirmed that its newly launched Outlook Lite app also supports Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, MSN, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Exchange Online accounts, making the app more efficient.
Where was the Outlook Lite app launched?
As far as availability is concerned, Microsoft said that the Outlook Lite app will be available for download through the Google Play Store in select countries from today. These countries include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Venezuela. The company said that it will be released for other countries in the future.

Lite version has been launched before
It is noteworthy that Microsoft is not the only tech company to have launched the ‘Lite’ app for budget Android smartphones. Earlier, many tech companies have launched lite versions of their apps for budget smartphone users in areas with low network connectivity.
For example, Google has apps like Google Assistant Go, Gmail Go, Google Gallery Go, Google Maps Go, Google Go for low budget Android phones. It also has Android Go Edition operating system for budget smartphones. Meta, on the other hand, has Instagram Lite, Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite. Similarly, Twitter, Spotify and Uber also offer lite versions of their apps.
