There is no movement of planes at night
Aircraft are being operated from 141 airports in the country
New Delhi. Due to the absence of night landing facility in 25 airports of the country, the movement of planes is not possible from here at night. The highest number of airports operating without night landing facility are three in Himachal Pradesh. After this, there are two such airports in many states. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is preparing to provide night landing facility in many airports.
Flights are being operated from 141 airports in the country. These airports allow flight, scheduled, non-scheduled, domestic and international flights. In these 141 airports, there is no movement of planes in 25 airports at night.
Reply given in Parliament
Minister of State for Civil Aviation, VK Singh informed the Parliament that upgradation/modernization of airports including provision of night landing facility is a continuous process and it will be decided by the Airport Authority (AAI) and other airport operators from time to time based on the availability of land, commercial viability, social – Economic consideration is done on the basis of demand of traffic, willingness of airlines to operate to/from such airports etc. Presently Night Landing facility, which is purely demand and requirement based on the operational requirement of airlines and availability of land.
No night landing facility at these airports
Cuddapah, Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, Rupsi in Assam, Tej and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh, Diu in Daman and Diu, Keshod in Gujarat, Hisar in Haryana, Dharamsala, Shimla and Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, Deoghar in Jharkhand , Kalaburagi in Karnataka, Agati in Lakshyadeep, Kolhapur and Sindhudurge in Maharashtra, Ludhiana in Punjab, Puducherry in Puducherry, Pakyog in Sikkim, Salem in Tamil Nadu, Pantnagar and Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh do not have light landing facility.
