New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki is working on a new affordable compact SUV for the Indian market. This is the crossover version of the Baleno, which is codenamed YTB. Now, the new Baleno Cross has been spied testing on the Indian roads. It is expected that the manufacturer may unveil the Baleno Cross at the Auto Expo 2023. The Baleno Cross has an SUV-like design.
The side profile of the Maruti YTB is similar to that of the new Baleno. However, the front has been heavily redesigned. It is now inspired by the recently unveiled Grand Vitara. It gets a split headlamp setup with LED daytime running lamps and the main headlamp cluster in the bumper. The grille is quite large with a flat bonnet and looks like there are roof rails too.

Engine will be like Baleno
The YTB will be based on the same Heartect platform that is being used on the Baleno and other Maruti cars. This will help in saving some cost. As of now, no information has been revealed about the engine. It is possible that the 1.2-litre, K-series engine could be used in it like the Maruti Baleno.
economical budget New SUV will come in
Baleno Cross will be cheaper than Brezza. Maruti has to introduce another compact SUV, as the price of Brezza has gone up. When the compact SUV was first launched in 2016, it was priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas now the Brezza starts at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Baleno Cross will be the company’s third SUV
The company has entered the SUV segment only a few years back. Earlier, the company used to sell only Vitara Brezza. Now, Maruti Suzuki has launched the new generation Brezza. Apart from this, a new flagship SUV has been launched in the upper segment, which is called Grand Vitara. Its price will be revealed in the coming months. The Baleno Cross will be the third SUV in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up.
