Madhya Pradesh government increased dearness allowance of government employees by 34 percent.
Earlier in March, DA was increased by 11 per cent to 31 per cent.
The employees will start getting the increased DA from September.
New Delhi. The Madhya Pradesh government has given its employees a chance to celebrate as soon as the festive season begins. The government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of about 7.5 lakh employees by 3 per cent from 31 to 34 per cent. The increased allowance will start getting from the next month i.e. September.
However, the increased allowance in his salary will be considered attached from August itself. This means that the employees will be given arrears of 1 month. Significantly, the increased dearness allowance will put an additional burden of Rs 625 crore on the state exchequer. Announcing the increased dearness allowance, state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said through a tweet, “Madhya Pradesh moves ahead on the path of development, the role of employees in this is also commendable. Keeping this in mind, this decision has been taken.”
Employees were demanding to increase dearness allowance
Despite having 31 percent dearness allowance in Madhya Pradesh, the employee organizations were demanding to make dearness allowance at par with the center. Accepting this demand, the government has increased dearness allowance by 3 percent. Now the employees of Madhya Pradesh will also get 34 percent dearness allowance like central employees. It is worth noting that assembly elections are also to be held in Madhya Pradesh next year.
Last time, 11% allowance was increased simultaneously
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a tweet, “Right now our government servants of Madhya Pradesh get 31% dearness allowance. We had increased 11% together last time, but today we are deciding that now 34% dearness allowance will be given to the government servants of Madhya Pradesh. Let us inform that earlier in the month of March, dearness allowance was increased by 11 percent. Then the DA was 20 per cent which had increased directly to 31 per cent.
Uttarakhand government also increased DA
Earlier, the Uttarakhand government had also increased the DA of employees of corporation and local bodies by 3 percent on Friday. It is worth noting that this increased allowance is applicable from January 1, 2022 i.e. employees will get arrears of so many months. About 45,000 employees have benefited from this move of the government.
