India beat West Indies by 68 runs in first T20

New Delhi. After the ODI series, India started with a win in T20 as well. Team India won the first T20 against West Indies at Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad by 68 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. Batting first, India scored 190 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs on a difficult wicket. In reply, West Indies team could only score 122 runs in 20 overs. No West Indies batsman could score more than 20 runs. For India, 3 bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi and Ashwin took 2-2 wickets.
Captain Rohit Sharma also played an important role in this victory of Team India. He played an innings of 64 runs in 44 balls on a difficult wicket in the match. He looked happy with this victory. After the match, he said, ‘We knew from the beginning that batting on this pitch would not be that easy. It was not easy to shoot in the beginning. Also, we understood that on this pitch it was necessary for the set batsman to stay on the crease for a long time, because it was difficult for any batsman to hit this wicket with the very first ball.
He further said, ‘The way we finished the first innings and scored 190 runs, it was really amazing. I think this wicket was such that even batting first it was not easy to score 170-180 runs. But, we persevered and scored a big score.

Team India’s batsmen have been batting aggressively in T20 for some time now. After winning the first T20 against West Indies, when Rohit was asked a question related to this, he said, “There are three aspects of the game, in which we want to improve continuously. First batting in 6 overs of powerplay, second middle over game and third how we finish the match. Every player has a special responsibility in terms of a team and we have openly asked them to fulfill it. Today every player has lived up to his role. However, this is not guaranteed to happen every time. But, we have to try and go on the field and try to achieve a specific target by batting. Many times you will also have to face failure in the process of doing this. We are ready for it.”
