Mumbai. Telecom and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday that the government is hopeful that 5G services can start in the country from October. Vaishnav said in Mumbai, “As soon as the spectrum auction is over, we will allot the spectrum in a few days. We are hopeful that 5G services can start in early October and it will have a good reach in the country within a year.
The minister said that the launch of 5G will be the fastest in India compared to many geographies. He said, “We believe that we will be able to launch 5G much faster than many other geographies. This is because many of our other costs are under control.
5G Auction: Rs 1.49 lakh crore bid till fifth day of 5G spectrum auction
The auction process for the allocation of 5G spectrum in the country continued for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday. Bids worth Rs 1,49,855 crore have been placed so far.
Reforms stabilize the telecom industry
Vaishnav said the reforms that have been done have brought stability to the telecom industry and there is healthy competition. The Telecom Minister said, “The reforms that were done in September have brought good stability to the industry. We want new companies to come in the sector and there is going to be good and healthy competition in the sector. BSNL will emerge as a good market balancer.
