New Delhi. Due to rising petrol-diesel price and increasing pollution in the country, now the demand for alternative fuel vehicles has started increasing rapidly. In the recent few years, there has been a huge jump in the sales of electric and CNG cars. These cars are much cheaper to run than petrol-diesel. However, till now there is not as much demand for these cars as there is for conventional fuel vehicles.
If you are also planning to buy an alternative fuel ie CNG or electric car to get rid of expensive fuel, then first know about the advantages and disadvantages of both.
Advantages of CAG Cars
Currently, some car makers including Maruti Suzuki are offering factory-fitted kits in their entry-level cars. One of the primary advantages of a CNG vehicle is that it is cheaper in fitment and running cost as compared to an electric vehicle. CNG vehicles are slightly less polluting than other vehicles and the cost of CNG is less as compared to petrol and diesel. Buyers also have the option to run their CNG cars on petrol or diesel as well.
Disadvantages of CAG Cars
The CNG cylinder kit in these cars takes up a lot of boot space and leaves no room for bulky items. Apart from this, the number of CNG stations in some states or cities is very less. It is also difficult to find a CNG station to refill the tank. Another drawback of CNG cars is that the fuel affects the car’s performance over time, reducing its power output, which can drop by up to 10 percent compared to petrol or diesel cars.
advantages of electric car
Electric vehicles have zero emissions and are eco-friendly. Electric cars are also being promoted in many states to tackle pollution. For this the government is giving subsidy. RTO fee or road tax is not levied on electric cars in many states. The running cost of electric vehicles is the cheapest among all vehicles. In some cases their running cost can be less than Re 1 . Their maintenance is also less.

disadvantages of electric car
A major drawback of electric vehicles is their cost. Due to the high cost of batteries, their price is very high as compared to other cars. Apart from this, there is still a huge lack of EV infrastructure in the country. Electric vehicles require charging stations, which are few and far between in India. Electric vehicles can cover a distance of around 400 km on a single charge. Although some stations are run by private and public sector companies, it will take another five years to set up a large network.
