Today is the last day to file income tax return
About 54 lakh returns filed till 8 pm on Sunday
More than 5.10 crore returns had been filed till July 30
New Delhi. 63.47 lakh returns had been submitted till 10 pm on Sunday, the last date for submission of Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2021-22 (AY 2022-23). Earlier, till July 30, 2022, more than 5.10 crore returns had been filed.
4.6 lakh returns filed in last one hour
The Income Tax Department said in a tweet that 63,47,054 ITRs have been submitted till 10 pm on Sunday, out of which 4,60,496 returns were filed in the last one hour.

Demand to extend the last date on social media
The Income Tax Department has fixed July 31 as the deadline for submission of ITR. Income Tax The department has been continuously requesting the taxpayers to submit the ITR within the stipulated time to avoid the burden of late fees. At the same time, through social media, people are demanding to increase the deadline for filling ITR. In the past, many hashtags trended on Twitter and are happening even today.
Corporates and businessmen have to file returns by 31 October
The date of filing IT return varies according to the category of taxpayers. Employed people have to file ITR by 31st July while corporates and businessmen have to file returns by 31st October.
