New Delhi. Today is the last day to file Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2021-22. Taxpayers are left with only a few hours from now to file ITR. At the same time, the Income Tax Department has released a set of Frequently Asked Questions. Here are the answers to 10 major questions that taxpayers asked while filing ITR.
Taxpayers can enter new password on e-filing portal using DSC
Responding to a query regarding change of password, the department has said that taxpayers whose mobile numbers are not linked with Aadhaar can login to the internet banking or create new ones on the e-filing portal by using a valid Digital Signature Certificate (DSC). Password can be entered.
Tax payment information automatically displayed in ITR
The Income Tax Department said that various banks send information to the department in 3 to 4 days, only after that information is added to the tax return / details already filled. “The tax payment information automatically shows up in the ITR but taxpayers will have to wait a bit longer,” he said.
The questions asked by taxpayers included difference in income as reflected in AIS, 26AS, deduction for saving bank interest, changing tax regime, filing returns offline, etc.
Corporates and businessmen have to file returns by 31 October
The date of filing IT return varies according to the category of taxpayers. Salaried people have to file ITR by 31st July while corporates and businessmen have to file returns by 31st October.
