The world is vast and every culture has its own characteristics and customs. It is what sets us apart and gives us identity as a people. Some of these nods may go unnoticed at first, but there’s one thing we’ll immediately spot in every culture: their food habits.
The internet, in its infinite wisdom, decided to let people share a dish from their country that beats all others, and it looks ridiculously delicious.
Let’s take a look at some of these treats and plan your next vacation accordingly.
1. Zabiganka (Poland)
While baguettes are definitely French, the Polish kick it up a notch and top them with mushrooms, cheese, ketchup, and green onions. And that’s how Zabikanka was born, it looks like you could easily eat three of them and then mildly regret the decision!
2. Egg Waffles (Hong Kong)
Hong Kong is famous for its street food. Most of the food is pretty tasty, but if you ever find yourself there and feel like you can’t believe anything you’re served, try the egg omelette. Don’t worry, it’s just flour thrown into a mold. It is not made of real eggs.

3. Empanadas (Argentina)
These empanadas are different from what you usually eat. They are filled with ground beef, caramelized onions, hard-boiled eggs, raisins and green olives. Still not enough for you? It’s all flavored with the one spice that makes all teenage boys smile: cumin.

4. Bude GK (Korea)
This dish roughly translates to “army bomb”. The dish was first invented after the Korean War. The only difference is that people are now using fresh ingredients, but luckily that has only improved the taste.

5. Pasties de Nada (Portugal)
Pasties de Nada are best described as a small custard filled pastry. It’s a Portuguese delicacy for people with a sweet tooth. It actually looks like it’s absorbing calories from its surroundings, but don’t let that deter you – I’m sure it’s nothing short of delicious.

6. Jianping (China)
This delicious crepe-like dish is often found in food stalls in Beijing. You can usually pick up any toppings you want, and it’s the perfect meal to eat on the go while you explore this amazing city.

7. Fish & Chips (England)
It’s hard to beat French fries, some fish and a lemon wedge better. It’s even better if you have it straight from a paper cone, but it’s always a good choice. Besides, English food is bad anyway. Even their beer tastes like donkey spit!

8. Boerverse Roll (South Africa)
A Boervers is a type of sausage that is particularly tasty and well seasoned. So a Boervers roll is like a hot dog, only the meat has real flavor. It’s usually served with onion and tomato sauces, but if there’s anything hotdogs have taught us over the years, it’s that you can put anything you like on them and it’ll still taste good.

9. Meatballs with lingonberry jam (Sweden)
Yes, IKEA balls are actually Swedish balls. Do not confuse the Swedish dish with a defrosted salt, however. They’re really fresh and delicious cured meatballs, and it’s the kind of dish that reminds you of Sunday dinner at grandma’s place. Can’t eat meatballs without mashers!
