A lot is happening in the world where society is actively breaking down the barriers between the sexes. We realize that many people do not fit into the binary system of male and female, but there are areas of life where we have not even achieved true equality between men and women. The largest would be the employment sector.

I’m not talking about wage gaps here, this is still about jobs associated with a particular gender. Since we’re all barrier breakers, let’s take a look at some of the things you can do as a man that’s usually associated with women.

Admit it, you know at least one person who says “doctor” when confronted by a male nurse. It’s a caring job that’s traditionally associated with women, but there’s no harm in men trying to help their fellow citizens. Especially not now, in times of covid.

Teachers are usually women for a few reasons. I think it’s because men are less willing to work with children, that’s why they often go to work in business so they can deal with grown children. But education is important to our society, so there is no reason why a man cannot add something unique to it.

This has changed somewhat with the rise of barbershops, but it wasn’t too long ago when every male hairdresser was assumed to be secretly queer. Barbershops not only made men’s hairstyles more traditional, but also made men care about their haircuts. Oh, how times have changed.

Librarians in movies and TV shows are almost always female, which is why we associate librarians with that gender. Let’s be honest, we go to libraries from time to time where we’re not going to build our image of librarians, now do we?

Event planner

Event planners are usually women because the biggest event that requires planning is a wedding. It is often noted that men care less about weddings, which adds to the idea that women make better wedding or event planners. Although some of the best wedding and event planners in the world are men, I don’t think you need to worry too much about planning the perfect event. You should care enough.

I’m sure there aren’t many people who dream of becoming a cashier one day, and that’s still a job primarily associated with women. Having a nice and friendly face helps in a retail environment, and I don’t think there are many men with friendly faces.

Flight Attendant

While this trend seems to be on the rise in Japan, male flight attendants are still a rare sight. Let’s hope that the coming years can do something about this and ensure that all men fly safely and comfortably!
